Service Accidents: Collisions And Dealing With The Damage
Posted by carsandtrucks on Wednesday, February 20 @ 05:32:35 PST

Fortunately most accidents are minor fender benders where there is no personal injury involved. These collisions do require that you gather enough information to make sure you protect yourself against unjust claims against you. In the event of an accident, first and foremost make sure that all involved parties are uninjured. Use your cell phone to contact 911 as soon as you have calmed down enough from the adrenaline rushing through you. If your vehicle is

not creating a hazard or interfering with traffic, then do not move it until the police arrive and tell you to do so. It is important that you remain calm while waiting for the police to arrive. Do not get into a confrontation with others involved in the accident. Under no circumstances should you admit fault to anyone including the officer investigating the accident. Simply state the facts as they happened. Be sure you collect the name, address, and phone number of all involved and from any witnesses. Included in your information gathering should be the name of the insurance companies for all those involved in the accident. You should call your insurance company from the scene of the collision if possible. The sooner you get your insurance company involved the better. Once the police department has gathered all the information they need, you should inquire about a copy of the accident report. The officer likely will not be able to give you a copy of the report at the scene so you will have to go pick it up. If your car or truck is drivable, take it to a collision center and have the vehicle inspected and an estimate of damage prepared. A good collision center will handle the arrangements with your insurance company and make the repair process a simple solution to what can be major inconvenience.
